The Properties

| The Area
Here on the Setúbal peninsula, close to Lisbon, Estoril and Sintra, there are hundreds of miles of fine sandy beaches and dunes. The picturesque coastal villages, inhabited by hospitable and welcoming people, are a perfect example of the best of Portugal and full of symbols of the country’s history, from castles and fortresses to churches, chapels and promontories. One of Europe’s best golfing locations, there are no less than 18 courses within easy reach of Palmela Village. The Arrábida natural park contains the only surviving example of primitive Mediterranean vegetation, while the nature reserves of the Tejo and Sado river estuaries are home to a vast range of birds, as well as dolphins and a striking amount of flora. This is an important wine-producing area, Palmela being best known for its Periquita variety, while Setúbal is renowned for its Moscatel. Museums dedicated to painting, sculptures, jewellery and archaeology can be found in both Setúbal and Sesimbra. |
